3 Connect the BrailleNote to the PC using the null-modem cable supplied with the unit.
4 Select the BrailleNote Visual Display.ht file and press "ENTER" to open it.
5 Turn on the BrailleNote.
6 Open the BrailleNote's Options Menu by pressing SPACE with dots 1-3-5 (Function with O).
7 Press SPACE repeatedly to move through the menu until you reach "visual display." To select the option, press ENTER.
8 To set the connection to Serial, press dots 2-3-4, (S). Select this by pressing ENTER. The BrailleNote activity should now be displaying in text format on the computer screen.

From Blazie to BrailleNote
How can I access files that were created on my Blazie notetaker after copying them to my BrailleNote?

If you have created files on your Blazie note taker and wish to access them on your BrailleNote, read the options below to find the one that suits your situation.

1 Since you were able to create files on your Blazie product without file extensions, you will need to rename these files with a ".TXT" for text files and ".BRF" extension for Braille files.
  1. If you have already copied the files to your BrailleNote, the fastest way to rename these files is to use ActiveSync and your computer.
  2. Using Windows Explorer, choose "Mobile Device", then "Flash Disk", then the folder where you have placed your files.
  3. Use your arrow keys to select the file you would like to rename and then press "F2" you will then be in an edit box where you can change the file name.
2 If you have not yet copied your files from your Blazie product you can use the commands in your Blazie note taker for renaming files.
3 If you are not a Windows user and have a computer that you use with DOS, you can use the DOS rename command to rename files that you have copied to disk or a directory on your hard drive. Here is an example of how that works:
  1. Change to the drive or directory where you have copied your files.
  2. Type "REN Old filename new filename" and press "ENTER." You will need to do this for each file.
4 If you have copied the files to a disk and not yet copied them to your BrailleNote you can use your computer and the steps in Option 1 above to rename your files.
5 Once the files have file extensions and are on a floppy disk, then:
  1. From the main menu of the BrailleNote, Select the File Manager by pressing F.
  2. Select Copy File by pressing C.
  3. Plug the disk drive AC adapter into a power socket and the PCMCIA plug into the card slot on the right side of the BrailleNote.
  4. Insert the floppy disk into the disk drive.
  5. You will be prompted for a "source drive" name. Press SPACE until you reach the "Storage Card" option and press ENTER.
  6. Select the route folder option by pressing ENTER. Note: If you have stored these files in sub-folders, select a folder instead.
  7. You will then be prompted for a "File Name." You may copy the files manually, or press SPACE with dots 3-5 to copy multiple files at one time. (See Section 12.11 of the BrailleNote User Guide, which refers to Using Wild Cards).
  8. Follow the necessary steps to copy the selected files to the desired folder on your Flash Disk.
6 To copy these files to your BrailleNote using the ActiveSync Utility, refer to Chapter 14.2 in the BrailleNote User Guide for an overview and instructions on using ActiveSync. Then, follow these steps:
  1. Initiate a guest connection between the PC and BrailleNote using the ActiveSync Utility.
  2. Place the floppy disk with the Blazie files into the PC’s disk drive.
  3. Using either "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer", open the "A" drive.
  4. Press "CONTROL+A" to select all the files on the floppy disk or manually select the files you wish to copy and press CONTROL + C to copy them to the Windows clipboard.
  5. Open the "Mobile Device" Option under either Windows Explorer or My Computer. This will present the BrailleNote as an external drive to which you can paste files.
  6. Open the Flash Disk folder under Mobile Device, and press CONTROL + V to paste the copied files into the desired folder.
